This study was motivated by the diverse learning needs and characteristics of students in contemporary classrooms, which may affect the effectiveness of instructional approaches implemented by teachers. The study aimed to examine the effect of differentiated instruction on students' learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design. The findings revealed that the non-parametric Kruskal–Wallis test produced a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.005), indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) was accepted. These results demonstrate that differentiated instruction had a significant effect on improving students' learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education at SMAN 2 Padang. The study concludes that differentiated instruction is effective in enhancing students' learning outcomes. The findings imply that the implementation of differentiated instruction should be optimized and expanded to a larger scale to generate more robust evidence. Furthermore, differentiated instruction may be considered a viable alternative instructional model for improving the quality of learning in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education
